Beginner's Guide to Smoothie Bowls
February 12, 2017

Smoothie Bowls have got to be one of my favourite things to consume & they are the perfect hybrid of drink and meal.
If you drink a smoothie, it's amazing how many calories you can consume without realising it & also without feeling full. Most that are available from juice bars can contain between 250-800 calories depending on what has been added (If you are looking to keep calories on the low side, be wary of nut butters, dates, bananas and seeds. You may not want to choose a smoothie that contains all of these.)
To turn a smoothie into a smoothie bowl, simply reduce the amount of liquid, add a spoon & some crunchy toppings & you'll suddenly feel completely satisfied and have a well-rounded meal with fruit, vege, healthy fats and protein!
Maybe it's the spoon that tricks the brain, or the fact that it makes you eat slower, but give it a go and let us know if changing your daily smoothie to a smoothie bowl helps you to feel more full!
Here are some of my favourite recipes...
Cacao Peanut Butter Smoothie Bowl Base

1 x tablespoon PB2 (powdered peanut butter) OR 1/2 tablespoon (100% peanuts) peanut butter
Optional - 1 scoop protein powder
1/3 cup milk of choice (I like Vitasoy Coconut Milk)
OR
